Chinese Medical Acupuncture

The ancient Chinese medical system of inserting fine needles into very specific points in the body to adjust & stimulate the body & mind towards health & balance.

A thorough and effective treatment, invaluable for an incredible range of issues, from shoulder injuries to regulating menstruation & menopause.

Acupuncture can be used on it's own, commonly, for issues such as stress and anxiety, or alongside other treatments.

Acupuncture is regularly used with moxa to warm and nourish the body for regulating menstruation and digestive issues, or with cupping and massage to open and release through lines of function for injuries.

Tui Na Medical Bodywork

Tui na (pron. twee na), the medical bodywork system from Chinese medicine, uses therapeutic techniques and manipulations more common to us from sports massage, osteopathy, chiropractic & physiotherapy.

Sharing the same principles of meridians and points as traditional acupuncture, though placing more focus on the realignment of the connective tissues of the body.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is the application of vacuum cups to specific points of the body for clearing through areas of tension, stagnation and injury to assist in musculoskeletal injuries and internal medicine.

An effective tool to assist with digestive complaints & breathing difficulties, as well as speeding up the healing of hard to treat injuries such as bruising & breaks.

Guasha

Popularised in the West for beauty treatments, Guasha has long been used in traditional medicine as a treatment on it's own, or alongside acupuncture, massage and cupping.

Guasha uses a scraping tool at a specific angle, with an oil or liniment to gently break up 'adhesions' in the tissues, reducing tightness, tension and knotting in the soft tissues, encouraging the flow of blood and lymph, boosting the immune system and helping to clear the sinews and channels of blockages. A useful addition to muskuloskeletal & constitutional treatments alike.

Moxa

Moxa (or moxibustion) is the application of heat, either on it's own or through an acupuncture needle.

Using moxa assists with our other therapies by helping to stimulate and improve the function of an acupuncture point or simply to warm up an area, such as an osteoarthritic joint or a cold digestive system.

Testimonials

"I have suffered from knee pain for years and have seen many physios, chiropractors and massage specialists. After two sessions with James, my knee pain is finally gone! Transformational!
James is professional, knowledgeable, kind and trustworthy. I’d highly recommend."

Lee

"James is very knowledgeable and professional.  Without fail, I feel so much better after my tui na treatments.  I can't recommend James enough!"

Karolina

"I visited James to seek help for tendonitis in my shoulder, which was so severe that I could not twist my arm, tuck in my shirt etc.
After the first visit I could twist my arm again and with follow-up visits using a mixture of 'cupping', massage and traction I am now almost completely back to normal.
James is attentive to the patient's needs, communicates clearly and never rushes.
I would recommend 100%"

Ron

"I went to James with a chest congestion and immune system issue as my GP was unable to find a solution.  James assessed and diagnosed my problem, and within two sessions my breathing difficulties were resolved.  Thank you James."

Gary

"After suffering with chronic dislocations of my shoulder for 18 years, a combination of Tai Chi and James' Tui Na treatments have completely eliminated both pain and instability."
