Frequently Asked Questions

Are all classes suitable for beginners?

Yes.  All classes are suitable for beginners. It is my aim to give everyone the support, encouragement and tools to get the most out of tai chi whatever their age, health, fitness or perceived ability.

If I missed the first class. Will there be a new intake?

Once the classes start, they are ongoing. Don’t worry, tai chi isn’t something that you learn overnight so you will always be in good company, with others learning new exercises, practicing in a friendly and supportive environment.

What should I wear?

Classes are informal. There is no uniform. Wear anything that you feel comfortable to move around in. For footwear, choose flat comfortable shoes  or socks, also for ease of movement.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Maybe bring some water and a layer in case it’s cool in the hall. No need for a mat as all the exercises we do are standing.

I'm not sure I can manage a whole class. How can I build up to it?

Classes are designed as a very thorough & effective physiotherapy session.

Everyone, whatever their age or fitness, will find parts of the class easy, and parts challenging, and although tai chi will challenge you, everyone in class works at their own pace, and is encouraged to take breaks should they need to.

There are always chairs to sit on or to use as extra support, and I will give you as much support and guidance as I can.

Another option is to book a one to one session.

These sessions are in the comfort of your own home and can be used to work through any health concerns, to work up to a point where you feel you can join in with a class, or just to get an introduction to the exercises we do in class.
